ART 440-01 Computer Graphics DTP
Course Description:
A course specifically designed to provide the graphic design major with the skill to use the computer in creating graphics for the print industry. The work in this course is done on both the Macintosh and the Intel PC platforms. (Class contact for lecture and studio-6 hours.) Prerequisite: Art 218. Lab fee is $40.00
Course Goals:
This course is designed to develop the student’s computer and design skills through studio and computer lab work. The student will become proficient with and understand graphic design terminology, graphic and typographic usage and layout procedures in printed and electronic media. Using industry standard software, the student will create quality print graphics for use in advertising and design for mass media production. Understanding how to apply basic design concepts to the presentation of informative or persuasive material is crucial to communicating with an audience. The student will understand this process of combining design and technology with aesthetics, enabling them to effectively communicate information visually.
